Sometimes I get an idea of a place or building in my mind that I just have to get out onto paper.  Something magical happens when I pluck that idea out of my imagination and capture it on a drawing.

What creative ideas or places are stuck in your mind?  I would love to help you transform them into inspirational drawings or built architectural creations.

You Are What You Eat – Dining Room Sketch

Today’s post is not an inkling sketch, but an architectural rendering for a project I’m working on.

I posted it as a reminder that “you are what you eat”. I’m making some serious positive eating lifestyle changes.

If we don’t take care of ourselves first, then how can we take care of others?  Just something to think about.

On location inkling: Feel the Power (The Washington Water Power Company)

If you don’t know it by now, I love sketching. For me it’s the ultimately therapy (besides Ben & Jerry’s…and improv). For me, sketching is a way of sharing my inner core values of creativity, inspiration, and compassion. Today I did something very random. I was sketching on location. Two people passing by were really enjoying the scenery. I gave them my sketch. I cannot begin to express the power of positivity and warmth I felt by handing them my sketch. Yes, there is definitely power in words….but the power of lines on paper can really draw some wonderful benefits.

In the summer of 1993, I worked in Hoboken, New Jersey.  One day during lunch, I took out my sketchbook and did a sketch of the Twin Towers and the New York City skyline.  The way the towers pierced the sky was quite magnificent.  Little did I know what the future would bring.  I was fortunate enough to have captured this memory with my pen and sketchbook.

I invite you to visit my j2n Sketch facebook page for more sketches.

As most of you probably know, the Jersey shore was just slammed with Hurricane Sandy. Utter disaster!  I am posting this sketch in honor of one of the Jersey Shore’s most iconic places.  I have many fond memories of going down the shore.  It is truly a unique place!

What are some of your favorite iconic places where you live?  Post your comments below.
